We are starting to make some head way in the immigration process here on our end. Lori and Russ received their approval letter this week. My Mom and Eric are expecting theirs any day now as well. This is a huge blessing for all of them because they were told last week that it could be 90 days. We got a letter on Monday saying our application was received and are hoping to get our fingerprinting appointment within the next few days. After that, we will then just be waiting for our approval letter, like the others who were before us. God has paved the way thus far and are confident he will continue to. I also, just want to end today by saying, "Thank You" to all of you for your prayers and support. I honestly thought going into this, that we would have some people who were going to be negative and question what we are doing. I have not had one negative response at all, and so many people on a daily basis are offering us support. It truly means the world to us and to our family, without that, we would not be able to stand strong and keep going. God has special plans for each and every one of us, we just have to be willing to step out on faith and believe that God will take care of the rest.

A few things have changed since my last post. For one, our communication with the kids has stopped. We were informed that we are no longer allowed to write to them. When I first heard, I was wondering how this would affect the kids, and how much harder it may become for them to remain positive. Once again though, God has supplied me with a peace and an assurance over this situation. I am grateful for the letters and the pictures we did have the opportunity to receive ( Thanks Curtis !!! ) because without them, I think I would have been a lot more worried. When the girls left to go back to the orphanage, I worried how they would cope and get through the next few months. When we started to hear from them, I realized that God has really kept his arms around them, and they know what they have to do to survive there, draw close to him. I know that as long as they do that, they will survive the upcoming months until we come get them. Things are operated so differently over there and there are things we will not understand, but we just have to keep praying that these kids will all be brought home safely and be able to make it through until that time comes. Lori also mentioned today that there is a strong need for winter clothes for the kids right now. The weather has gotten colder this week and the orphanage does not have heat yet. The town as a whole, will receive heat all at the same time, and they said that usually does not happen until sometime the end of November. The kids have been wearing their coats inside the orphanage just to stay warm. Lori is checking to see if they are allowed to bring coats, shoes, gloves, etc. over with them when they travel. If this permission is granted and you would be willing to help with this need, please contact me or Lori. It breaks my heart to think about those kids, who are already malnourished and thin trying to keep warm. We don't truly know how fortunate we are, to have our needs AND our wants provided for.

Hey guys. Just to let you know, the HEAT IS NOW ON!!! For some reason the whole city doesn't have heat, but my apartment does (as of yesterday), and so does the orphanage! (For that matter, I also got new windows installed that DON'T have cracks in them to let in the winter breeze! :) ) I was just at the orphanage the other day, and had a nice long talk with Nastya. She is so awesome!!!! We talked about many things, and she is very confident about you guys wanting to take her home. The kids aren't thinking that at all. They know why the problem arose, and understand it well. Nastya asked if she could come with us to visit another orphanage across town so she could see her friends from there for once. She is going to get approval from the director, and if that happens, then we'll have a fun time out of the orphanage with her! I'd personally like to take her out for lunch. She's such a cool kid and has been a loyal friend of mine since she was 8 year old! She wrote me letters while I was in Canada before I moved here 3 years ago!! That's how loyal she is! (Although, she doesn't remember writing me... :( I have proof!!! :) )
ReplyDeleteI've visited the orphanages lately, and found that things seem to have already started to cool down. This doesn't mean letters can start again. It's not my call. About English class, the director said we may be able to start it up again in two weeks. We'll see. She's been very gracious to us at this time, and has always approved of all that we do with the kids, including speaking about Jesus! What a blessing to have her in charge here!
The kids pass their love on to you, and I have reassured them that you guys love them just the same as always, and that the fact that the letters aren't coming through doesn't mean that you don't love them. It's all good! :)
