You can have a full stomach and the next thing you know you are standing in line for another chocolate croissant!!! We counted in one block today there was 6 bakeries and 3 restaurants !! They are every where and it makes the streets smell so good ! We also walked by the Rue Market again today and got a better look of the market when it was in full swing. I loved just walking and looking at everything. We were thinking the only way that the city folk here can indulge in all these tasty things is because they walk everywhere. So with that in mind, we decided to walk to the Musse De Louvre from our hotel. It was about a 2 mile walk each way. It was a great choice because we got to stop and see so much we would not have seen by taxi. There are so many magnificent buildings everywhere you look and the arctictecture is amazing. We ate lunch at another little cafe on the way. Once again there were no complaints ! Russie had liver, which was the special and a cappuccino, and I had a sandwich on french baguette and french onion soup again. We definitely both appriciate the food here and will miss it when we leave. When we got close to the Musse de Louvre, we were taken back by the size of it. It was huge ! We were not even sure where to go to get in. We were walking up to the entrance and a man approached us and told us we had to sign the paper before we went in. The sheet was about half full of names and it also asked where you were traveling from. He then said to Russie, "Money" and held out his hand. Russie said how much and he said 10 euros each. Russie was thinking this is how you buy your ticket to get into the museum, because we did not see any other ticket booths or counters. Well, we quickly found out that it was not the who you pay to get in, they just wanted money and made you think that you were paying your entrance fee. Russie is still mad about it, when we left the museum he was looking for him to go get his 20 euros back..lol ! The Louvre was worth the walk, it was so big and so impressive it was hard to take it all in. There were sections we never even made it to. We started out in the Italian section with paintings dated back to the 1200's. Some of these were massive and one painting would take up a whole wall. The area of the museum that drew the most attention was the Mona Lisa. It was encased in glass and had a an area that was roped off infront of it, so you could not get that close.
We were thinking of Lena, and our friend Mandy today and thinking how much they would have enjoyed seeing all these old and beautiful paintings. I wish we would have known the history and the stories behind all of these paintings and sculptors.
All in all we had a wonderful time here and enjoyed everything we saw and ate here and we enjoyed the time together the best ! We have a shuttle picking us up at 3:30 am to take us to the airport. We have a few hours layover in Frankfort, then to Kiev. Eric and Dema should be on their way to Kiev right now as well, on the overnight train. We are hoping to hook up with them and catch up and see Dema before he heads home !! He is so excited and has been anticipating this for quite some time now. Bubba is going to be staying at my Mom's house for the weekend with Dema when he arrives home. Bubba is so excited to play with him. We will update our blog again once we get internet it Kiev. Our SDA appointment it scheduled for Wednesday, so I am sure we will have details about that. I am going to try to upload some more pictures of our time here in Paris on my facebook page, so you will have to check them out !
Thanks for all your prayers, we can feel them, keep them coming !!!
